More On The S.A.D. Ealing Campaign - In The Gazette & On The Street

Emie Louise Alizalwa is the 14 year daughter of Albert Dane Day Centre service user Irene Alizalwa and plainly Irene is justly proud of her campaigning daughter who has joined in the fight to save the centre her mother has attended for some time.

Irene Alizalwa campaigns to save Albert Dane Centre
Emie has written letter after letter to the local Southall Gazette newspaper and had them published thus prompting others to join in the campaign to save Day Services for disabled adults from closure. It prompted the following in the Southall Gazette:

In another letter to the Southall Gazette from The Albert Dane Day Centre Service Users Commitee the service users said

"For many of us Albert Dane is the only meaningful social life we have. Without it many of us will have to spend the days, as well as nights by ourselves with nobody to interact with, except a care assistant who comes in to dress us (maybe 20 minutes a day). Some of us will lose even that luxury"

Further to this campaigners from Ealing Trade Union Council & representing several trade unions took to the streets of Ealing Broadway yesterday (Sat' 16th) to protest about the coming cuts & closures program.

The S.A.D. Ealing campaign was represented and it's petition was signed to save the Albert Dane & Links centres.
All the Save The Day Centre's leaflets were given out and interest was much bigger than last time!

The public is obviously becoming increasingly worried ahead of the swingeing cuts expected after Wednesday's forthcoming Comprehensive Spending Review.
